This series is one of few that are on my frequently re-watchable list. It’s in my DVD player (laugh it up you Blu-Ray Richies…) right now. This week I’d like to feature “Ouran High School Host Club.”

This series is one very few “harem anime” I enjoy. That may be because it’s a male harem of good looking, suave, rich young men who aim to please the women around them, but please don’t let that jade the issue: This series is amazing. The whole cast, even most of the side characters, are well rounded and developed. I’ll admit the color palette is a little… pink… but these are manly men yo! This show makes me laugh every time I rewatch it. Not just “heh”s and light chuckles, but laughter so hard that it brings tears. Haruhi and Tamaki are so endearing. The Hitachiin twins are deliciously devilish. Mori and Honey are perfect foils of strong and silent matched with cute and sweet. And my favorite, Kyoya, is clever and scheming enough to win anyone over. This series is so popular, quickly after it was adapted to anime from Bisco Hatori’s 2005 manga, it has also spawned a PS2 Visual Novel Game, a Nintendo DS game, and a live-action Japanese television drama. It was announced this summer that there will be a live-action movie set to release for March 2012 based on the TV drama with the original TV cast reprising their roles.

This feel good/comedy series from beginning to end has earned countless re-watches. It is consistently, since it’s debut in 2006, in the top ten of my series playlist.
